This week Prep Talk Eugene is very excited to have as our guest interview, Roseburg Coach Thurman Bell. Coach Bell is in his 50th year of coaching, including 45 years at Roseburg High School and is retiring at the end of this season. The Roseburg Indians will be in town friday night to take on the Willamette Wolverines, one of only two local games this year in which you can catch coach Bell and the Roseburg Indians.

In the first part of our show, we talk about the games this past week for local 1A, 2A and 3A teams.

We then have an interview with Coach Bell and Marvin asks him some interesting questions including his plans for retirement, his favorite away field to play at, his advice to new coaches, how he got his nickname and of course, a preview of the game against Willamette. Coach Bell also walks us through the game winning drive friday and the two point conversion that allowed Roseburg to defeat North Medford 36-35.

We then review the local 6A, 5A and 4A teams in action, including South Eugene’s first league win since 2010, a 20-14 win over Thurston. We debate our opinions on if South Eugene has arrived or if they have benefited from the easier part of their schedule so far this year. We have some brief post game audio with South Eugene Coach Kevin Leonard and linebacker Brautigan Dubie-Gadsby. Marcus and Marvin review the Game of the Week broadcast they called friday night, Cascade’s 35-0 win over Junction City.

We also talk about Marist’s 47-0 win over North Bend, a bit of redemption game and Springfield’s win over Hermiston.

We have Stump Marvin Trivia, where we ask Marvin to “Name the year that Marist last defeated an opponent by greater than 45 points and who was that team?” Listen in for the answer.

It’s all right here. Download the file for easy listening at any time. ENJOY!
