Opening week games are in the books and Prep Talk Eugene is Talkin’ Football. Join us as we debate, discuss and analyze the results of week one.
We discuss Madison’s 22-14 win over South Eugene, Thurston’s big win on the road over Ridgeview 42-36, Churchill’s surprising 30-14 win over Willamette and all the games involving local teams. We have some audio that Marcus was able to obtain when he spoke briefly with Madison linebacker Daniel Green on the field after the game.
The Midwestern League took a big hit, losing all three of the games against the Mid-Willamette Conference by a combined score of 135-51. Crescent Valley defeated Marist 40-14, Lebanon beat Springfield 43-14 and Corvallis beat North Eugene 52-33. Has the Midwestern League’s claim to be the toughest league in the state come to an end?
We have an interview with Thurston coach Justin Starck who gives us the scoop on the Colts big win at Ridgeview and then a preview of the game this week against Willamette. We also ask coach Starck his thoughts on the Oregon Live 5A Poll in which his Colts did not receive a single vote!
We also have Stump Marvin Trivia and ask Marcus, who was filling in for Marvin: “Who is the longest tenured coach in the Midwestern League?”
Marvin was on assignment in Astoria calling the play by play of the North Bend at Astoria game and was able to speak with North Bend coach Gary Prince. We have that audio as well.
