Week #10: 11/04/16 – Camas Valley Coach Eli Wolfe

It’s playoff time! Congratulations to all the local Eugene and Lane County area teams who made the playoffs.

This week on Talkin’ Football, we review all the big games from last week and preview the upcoming playoff games. Marvin was out at Sheldon calling the play by play for KUGN in Sheldon’s 49-0 win over Grants Pass. Meanwhile, Marcus and Chris called the game out at The Farm for the Battle of Springfield and the Colts 39-36 win over the Millers. We have some post game audio of Thurston senior Connor Morton and Coach Justin Starck, courtesy of Marcus Miller.

We sort out the final standings of the Midwestern League following Churchill’s 21-40 loss at Crater and Marist’s 35-21 upset of Eagle Point.

Marvin gets on his soap box about the RPI and how it impacted the undefeated Cottage Grove Lions and their spot as a #6 seed in 4A. We have used the terms “quality loss”, “strength of schedule” and “RPI dropping win” this year.

We had planned on having South Eugene Coach Kevin Leonard on as our guest but found out just prior to taping that the Axemen would have to forfeit their game against Jesuit due to a lack of players. The Axemen qualified for the Play-In round in 2011 (despite going 0-10), 2012 and 2013. The last year South Eugene officially made the playoffs was in 2006, a year they advanced as far as the quarterfinals.

We are very pleased to have Camas Valley Coach Eli Wolfe as our guest interview this week. Click on the Soundcloud file below or download it for easy listening at your leisure. ENJOY!
