TALKIN’ FOOTBALL WEEK #2
This week on our podcast Talkin’ Football we welcome South Eugene coach Kevin Leonard. We talk with coach Leonard about the Axemen’s big 41-6 win on the road at Franklin and their newly renovated stadium and field. Coach Leonard also gives us a preview of the game friday against his alma mater, the Churchill Lancers.
We have some post game audio with Sheldon coach Josh Line following the 48-25 Irish win and with Crescent Valley coach Scott Sanders and senior Talanoa Hufanga after the Raiders come from behind 42-27 win over Marist. Hufanga gives a shout out to Marist senior quarterback/safety Reow Jackson’s effort and athleticism.
We have Stump Marvin Trivia in which we ask Marcus and Marvin to “Name the one local team that has lost to the eventual state champion every year from 2010 to 2016 either in the playoffs or during the regular season?” Listen in for the answer or scroll down below for the answer.

The Marist Spartans have played King Maker losing to the eventual 5A state champion each season from 2010 (when they moved up to 5A) to 2016, four times in the playoffs and three times during the regular season:
2010: Lost 26-23 (OT) Sherwood in 5A state championship game.
2011: Lost 31-14 to eventual champion Mt. View in semi-finals.
2012: Lost 46-20 to Sherwood in 5A state championship game.
2013: Lost 17-7 to eventual champion West Albany in week #1
2014: Lost 30-13 to eventual champion Hermiston in semi-finals
2015: Lost 14-13 to eventual champion Summit in week #4
2016: Lost 37-28 to eventual state champion Lebanon week #2
Is this a good sign for Crescent Valley or perhaps Churchill and Thurston, who will play Marist later this year as well? Stay tuned there is plenty of football to be played!
